Life’s a Stage — Don’t Forget Intermission

With deep gratitude and humility, I write this update.

It has been a pleasure writing for an audience (a growing one, at that) for the past 8 weeks (I took last week off for my birthday and much needed restoration time).

Nothing could prepare me for the cacophony of internal dialogue that surrounds this work. This has certainly been an emotional upheaval, but in the best way possible.

The feedback you gave me made it worthwhile.

You all surprised me with the outpouring of love, support, and compliments. I have friends thanking me for what I do for pool, and for getting them into pool. People were impressed with my perspectives and vulnerability. I was touched whenever I was told that a particular piece was helpful to someone.

Thanks to the people who wanted to help me too by sharing the resources they have used.

Before I launched this series, I wrote down 30 topics to ensure longevity. I had a content calendar, but each week, I followed my intuition and wrote what I was guided to write. Now, many of the remaining topics no longer resonate with me because I have changed.

I felt a profound sense of completion (and exhaustion) after my last post. I knew that I wrote what I, and others, needed to read at that time and it is immortalized for future pool players to find.

There are still topics that I want to write about when the time is right (making peace with losing, revisiting the essay on gender dynamics in pool to make it “more digestible,” for example).

If you know me intimately, you’ll know that the last year has been a time of soul-searching and shedding of old layers. I know now that those 6 articles were inextricably linked to my purpose and healing.

Now it’s time for intermission.

I hope this has been as healing for you as it has been for me. And I think it has been. Because you told me it was. You looked forward to it. You texted me when I didn’t share last week and when I was a day late the week before. You thanked me. You showed me care.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I do this for you.

What topics do you want to read about? Please let me know in the comments if there is something you want me to write about and I will do my best to make that happen for you.

If you like my content and want to support me in its creation, here are a few ways to do so:

  1. Give this article a clap and become a follower
  2. Subscribe to be notified when I post new stuff
  3. Consider buying me a game of pool or downloading my tournament evaluation form
  4. Consider becoming a monthly supporter

I'm blogging about my experiences as a competitive pool player. When I write, I transmute pain into power and shame into radical self-love.
